Sulla Powdery Mildew: Phylogeny and Host Range

چکیده

Sulla is a biannual forage legume cultivated throughout the Mediterranean Basin. It can be severely damaged by powdery mildew, but there little understanding on its causal species or host range. The taxonomic characterization of Erysiphe mainly based examination chasmothecia morphology, molecular analysis ITS1 and ITS2 sequences. However, description morphology ITS sequences not always available to clearly assign given isolate an existing novel species. In attempt clarify identity mildew infecting sulla crop we studied nine populations collected over years countries compared them with Phylogenetic showed that mildews clustered together isolates Coronilla varia in independent clade between E. guarinonii/E. trifoliorum palczewskii clades, strongly suggesting all these correspond same Measurements conidia conidial foot cells sulla-infecting partially overlap those other species, although they differentiate from them, supporting assumption belong distinct as observed phylogenetic analysis. As far know, our study first report isolated plants Hedysarum clade. Cross-inoculations confirmed high specialization sulla, sulla’s only S. coronaria accessions, none accessions genera studied. All were heavily infected any used. this points hedysari agent mildew.

Molecular phylogeny and evolution of the maple powdery mildew (Sawadaea, Erysiphaceae) inferred from nuclear rDNA sequences.

To understand the phylogenetic relationships and evolution of the powdery mildew genus Sawadaea (Ascomycota: Erysiphaceae), obligate parasitic fungi of maples, we performed molecular phylogenetic analyses based on 47 ITS and ten 28S rDNA sequences. Seven major clades of Sawadaea, each represented by powdery mildew specimens collected from a single or a small number of closely related sections o...

Host-induced gene silencing in barley powdery mildew reveals a class of ribonuclease-like effectors.

Obligate biotrophic pathogens of plants must circumvent or counteract defenses to guarantee accommodation inside the host. To do so, they secrete a variety of effectors that regulate host immunity and facilitate the establishment of pathogen feeding structures called haustoria. The barley powdery mildew fungus Blumeria graminis f. sp. hordei produces a large number of proteins predicted to be s...
